Kilkenny Attractions & Leisure

Kilkenny is known as the medieval capital of Ireland. Dominating the city is Kilkenny Castle, overlooking the river Nore and dating from the 12th century. St Canices Cathedral with the famous round tower dates from the 13th century. The city is extremely compact with fine pubs - many with nightly musical entertainment and restaurants are all within walking distance as is the thriving Watergate Theatre.

The area is well served by many fine sporting facilities including the famous Jack Nicklaus designed Mount Juliet golf course, 10 miles from the city. The river Nore has long been a destination for angling holidaymakers.
